Mission and Goals

The mission of Rejuvenate Housing is to rejuvenate neighborhoods and create homeownership opportunities that promote the health and welfare of the community.

To accomplish our mission, we focus on three goals:

  • To identify and acquire residential properties that can be restored as quality single-family homes
  • To secure financing to renovate properties through private fundraising, grant opportunities and housing program assistance
  • To identity and secure low-moderate income single-family buyers.

About

Davenport, like many of its urban counterparts across the country, is blessed with a variety of new and legacy neighborhoods that offer a rich mixture of housing types for short and long-term residency. But like many urban areas, public and private investment in older Davenport neighborhoods has not kept pace with the expansion and vitality of newer residential areas, resulting in fewer high-quality, affordable housing units in central and west Davenport in which to live and raise a family.

Rejuvenate Housing, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization started by businessman and philanthropist Don Decker in 2020 to address redevelopment of older neighborhoods by creating home ownership opportunities that promote the health and welfare of the larger community.

Much like the Rejuvenate Davenport tackled urban blight and commercial redevelopment of downtown Davenport in the 1980’s and 1990’s, Rejuvenate Housing seeks to make Davenport residential neighborhoods more sustainable, desirable and attractive.

Philosophy

While Rejuvenate Housing’s mission is not restricted in terms of its geography, our Board of Directors has chosen to begin its work on West 14 th and West 17 th Streets – south of Locust Street and east of Gaines –
in a deliberate effort to leverage and capitalize on areas in which significant private investment is already underway.

We believe we will be able to show a greater impact these first years of operation when multiple properties in a concentrated area are renovated rather than doing spot improvements across the city.
